Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be aware of what's happening?
Yes you will be aware of what's happening - you will just feel very relaxed. You will be able to hear what is being said and you will always be in control.

I always record the first relaxation session, so that you can also check back on everything I've said - just in case you've drifted off a bit! This can act as an extra reassurance for nervous clients and also cuts down the number of hypnotherapy sessions you'll need.

What sort of things can hypnotherapy help with?
Clinical Hypnotherapy has been medically accepted to benefit many conditions, including (but not limited to): phobias, fears, stress, anxiety, panic attacks, performance anxiety, weight control, eating disorders, pain management, low self esteem, bereavement & letting go, habits, sleep problems, fertility issues, pregnancy & birthing, low confidence, energy & healing, IBS, smoking cessation... and so much more.

Alongside my work with adults and groups, I am also trained in working with children from as young as 4 and have had years of experience helping youngsters deal with issues around sleep, anxiety, bed wetting, nail biting and other areas.

If you or a family member are facing challenges not listed above, please get in touch. This list is by no means exhaustive.
How many sessions will I need?
This varies depending on the client and the individual issues that you'd like to address, although the benefits of hypnotherapy and relaxation are usually evident after just one session.
I generally recommend allowing for three sessions, although some deep-rooted issues may take a little longer. Likewise, because I record the first session (so you have a personalised relaxation recording to continue using), some clients find they only need one session!

Aside from this, I see some clients on a more regular basis. Often these are clients who have found great success with Clinical Hypnotherapy and continue to use it to support their ongoing health and emotional wellbeing. It's a bit like having a monthly massage - if you're feeling a bit stressed out, why not come and relax your mind?
Is hypnotherapy safe?
When carried out by a trained Hypnotherapist, treatment is entirely natural and safe with no harmful side effects.

You do not lose consciousness or go to sleep. On the contrary, you will experience a very relaxed state of heightened awareness. You will be aware of what's happening and you will be able to hear everything that is being said. You are in control at all times.

As an added reassurance, I always record the first relaxation session, so that you can check back on everything I've said - just in case you've drifted off a bit whilst relaxing!
